MARK NUTE

Mark is an award winning animator, designer, director and writer. A graduate from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in Farnham, he has over a decade of experience in the animation industry working on both high profile in house studio projects and independent short films, music videos and web based corporate animation.

He has worked as an animation director, animator, designer and layout artist at studios including: Triffic Films, Tiger Aspect, Ladybird FIlms, Baby Cow Animation, Collingwood O'Hare, Happy FIlms, Partizan Lab, Illuminated Films, Dansk Tegnefilm and Spider Eye. Projects include The Animated Mr Bean Series, 2DTV, I Am Not An Animal, The Secret Show, Horrible Histories, Little Princess, Bookaboo, Rita and Crocodile, Viz, the Virgin Mobile 'A Different Kind of Animal' ad campaign and Sainsbury 'Taste The Difference' commercials.

 

As a writer and director he has received commisions from Channel 4, The Arts Council/Screen South and Northern Film and Media for his original scripts to be made into short animated films.

These commisions were secured by winning short film script competitions including Channel 4's prestigious Animator In Residence (AIR) scheme and the Art Council's Digital Shorts funding scheme. 

During the AIR scheme Mark spent four months as a living exhibit in the National Media Museum in Bradford during which time he produced his debut short film 'The I've Spied Book of Beards' (the story of an obsesssive beard spotters and his quest to find a mythical specimin and complete his collection). It starred comic actor Kevin Eldon and went on to be nominated for a number of awards and screened at festivals across the globe.

His most recent film, the award winning 'Marvin', is based on Frank Pudney's original concept of a young boy born with an unusual extra orifice in the middle of his forehead. It was produced by Tim Searle and Henry Normal at Baby Cow Animation. Mark's original rhyming script was performed by Steve Coogan with music composed by Jeff Mercel of the band Mercury Rev, It went on to screen at over 50 international film festivals including a number of Academy Award and Bafta qualifying competitive screenings. It is currently for sale on iTunes through the distribution company Shorts International.

​A bit of hobo since leaving home, Mark has lived in Wichita Kansas, Surrey, Milton Keynes, Bradford, Newcastle, Brighton, Vancouver and London where he currently happily resides.
